Update of the Corine Land Cover Data Base in Germany

چکیده
The objective of the European-wide programme CORINE Land Cover (CLC) is the generation and regular update of consistent and comparable information on land cover in Europe for environmental assessment and planning purposes. The project CORINE Land Cover 2000 (CLC2000) aims at the update of the land cover data base for the year 2000 and the mapping of land cover changes in Europe during the last decade (1990 – 2000). The mapping is done at the scale 1:100,000 according to 44 land cover and land use classes. The main data base is a set of ortho-rectified satellite scenes of Landsat-7 ETM+. The inventory is carried out by means of computer assisted image interpretation. The CLC2000 subproject in Germany is led by the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) and the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD). The paper gives an overview on the German CLC2000 project and its present status. The applied methods of mapping and updating are discussed. By means of several examples selected results are presented and some significant changes especially in urban regions are shown. The potential but also the restrictions of the present CLC2000 data for regional planning and environmental monitoring purposes are discussed in the context of other European projects like MOLAND and MURBANDY. Finally, an outlook on ongoing research activities for the automation of the interpretation process is given. * corresponding author

The Assessment of the Actual Soil Erosion Risk in Germany, Based on CORINE Land-Cover and Statistical Data from the Main Representative Survey of Land Use
For the precaution against physical soil degradation in managed soils, accurate planning data about anthropogenic impacts and for policy making applicable indicators to describe the driving force and state are required. To assess the potential erosion risk, accurate information is available, but to assess the actual erosion risk it is necessary to regard current land-use and cultivation data fo...
متن کاملMapping CORINE Land Cover from Sentinel-1A SAR and SRTM Digital Elevation Model Data using Random Forests
The European CORINE land cover mapping scheme is a standardized classification system with 44 land cover and land use classes. It is used by the European Environment Agency to report large-scale land cover change with a minimum mapping unit of 5 ha every six years and operationally mapped by its member states. The most commonly applied method to map CORINE land cover change is by visual interpr...
متن کاملAssessing the suitability of GlobeLand30 for mapping land cover in Germany
Global land cover maps have been widely employed as the base layer for a number of applications including climate change, food security, water quality, biodiversity, change detection and environmental planning. Due to the importance of land cover, there is a pressing need to increase the temporal and spatial resolution of global land cover maps. A recent advance in this direction has been the G...

The CARTO-CHANGE project addresses the harmonization of existing land cover data (Advanced CORINE LC, CORINE LC and GLOBCOVER) and thereby two aspects: Firstly, the cartographic and statistical comparison of land cover information across different scales and resolutions, and secondly the timely identification of candidate land cover changes by using land cover and land use information derived f...
متن کاملThe Production of Finnish Corine Land Cover 2000 Classification
CORINE Land Cover is an Europeanwide land cover and land use classification which is based in most countries on visual interpretation of satellite images. The new CORINE2000 classification of Finland is based automated interpretation of satellite images and data integration with existing digital map data. Satellite images are used in estimation of continuous variables describing vegetation type...
